Job Description: Patient Services Coordinator / Medical Secretary / Receptionist in Philadelphia

Job Type: Full-time or Part-time

Job Summary:

Front desk position encompassing all aspects of patient contact with regard to pertinent billing information, treatment authorization, demographic information and various other responsibilities including telephone contact, general filing and scheduling of appointments. Must have working knowledge of insurances/referrals.

Responsibilities:

All new hires participate in a three-month training program.

  • Answering telephones (high volume)
  • Taking patient messages
  • Filing
  • Light typing
  • Operating copy machine, fax machine and postage meter
  • Scheduling/Rescheduling appointments
  • Confirming patient appointments
  • Checking patients in and out
  • Sorting and distributing mail
  • Collecting co-pays and monies owed on account
  • Balancing out patient vouchers at end of day
  • Having one on one patient contact
  • Stocking/Ordering of supplies
  • Keeping front desk clean, orderly and clutter-free
  • Maintaining patient files
  • Handling pharmacy call backs
  • Calling hospital/laboratories for test results
  • Continually learning the insurances/referrals and patient responsibilities for payment
  • Pulling charts, making new charts, maintaining existing patient files
  • Sending out packages to FedEx, UPS and certified mailings
  • Mailing of New Patient Packets
  • Keeping the waiting room handouts fully stocked and up-to-date
